Woman Dead, Four Hospitalized after Fatal Car Accident on 40th Street

PHOENIX, AZ (March 22, 2022) – Friday afternoon, Tiffini Cunningham was killed and four were injured in a multi-vehicle crash on Cactus Road.

The deadly collision happened near the intersection of 40th Street and Cactus Road, according to the reports.

Authorities said an eastbound SUV with five occupants collided with a sedan that was attempting to turn onto southbound 40th Street. The SUV then crashed into a light signal pole before coming to a stop along the road.

Due to the extent of injuries sustained, medics pronounced Cunningham, who was one of the passengers in the SUV, dead.

Meanwhile, crews transported a total of four others to a hospital with serious injuries. According to police, one man is in extremely critical condition. In addition, an 18-year-old man and two 17-year-old girls are also in critical condition.

Both directions of the roadway were temporarily closed down to allow for cleanup and preliminary duties. As per the preliminary investigation, impairment was not a factor.
