*Our Q&A With Tiesto

Superstar trance DJ Tiesto is performing at Home Depot Center in Carson Oct. 8 for what his people are claiming will be “the largest single headline DJ show in US history.”

True? Not sure. In fact, if anyone would know it would be Tiesto, who previously claimed his “Live in Concert” show at the Sports Arena in 2007 was a record-setter with 10,000 in attendance.

Truth be told:

Somebody goosed DJ culture once more in the last few years and it seems to have broken through a new ceiling in terms of popularity and DJ pay (we've heard of one top spinner asking for $250,000 per gig to play in Vegas). We chalk it up to pop's recent fascination with trance-infected sounds and the will.i.aming of dance via Coachella and mega-raves such as Electric Daisy Carnival (population 200,000+ over three days in Vegas last June). Capacity for Tiesto in Carson?

26,000. Not bad.

The event is the end-cap to his “Club Life College Invasion Tour.”

Seeing the madness his fans created at Coachella in 2010 and his headliner status at EDC Vegas, we wouldn't be surprised to see this sell out fast.

Cheesesto.

Cheesesto.

Now we've been known to call him Cheesesto for his over-top trance-pop and spiky haired fans. Now he's just the Big Cheese.
