If you’re smart and poor and even vaguely enterprising, every day is National Pasta Day. There are over 600 types of pasta, from the humble spaghetti to su filindeu, the world’s rarest pasta. You can celebrate just some of those hundreds of varieties at Terzo MDR, a new Mediterranean treasure that just opened in August, nestled in the space where Settebello was for about five years in Marina Del Rey. The simplest dishes can also be the most nourishing — alternately, sometimes the simplest things are the hardest to do correctly — and yet when it all comes together, the simple things in life are absolutely worth celebrating. Terzo is offering 50 percent off all pastas all day.

Eataly has recently opened a fresh house-made pasta bar in the marketplace called La Pasta FrescaOffering high quality pasta dishes and  wine pairings for casual dine-in or quick take-out,  diners can get a  taste of Italy in a matter of minutes.

Before the fresh pasta even hits the boiling water, the Eataly pasta-makers have constructed each shape by hand. Expert pastai mix and knead the simple egg and flour dough, before individual chitarra and agnolotti are precisely sliced and/or filled with seasonal ingredients. The fresh pasta is then  transformed into inspired regional specialties from across the boot. Made to order, there’s a wide selection, from classics like Tagliatelle alla Bolognese, long egg pasta ribbons with a classic meat ragù sauce typical of Bologna, or lesser known dishes like the Mafaldine al Pesto with the famous basil sauce from Liguria.
