3 Hurt in Fiery Accident on Truxtun Avenue near Westside Parkway

BAKERSFIELD, CA ( July 20, 2021 ) – Monday night on July 12, three people were injured in a DUI collision on Truxtun Avenue in Bakersfield.

The crash occurred at about 7:43 p.m., near Westside Parkway, as stated by the report.

According to reports, a truck was traveling westbound on Truxten Avenue when it lost control and crossed into the eastbound lanes. The driver then struck two additional occupied vehicles.

Due to the impact of the crash, the truck overturned and became engulfed in flames. A passerby rescued the truck driver and responding firefighters extinguished the flames.

The collision caused moderate injuries to all three drivers. One of them was taken to a local hospital for further treatment.

Officers later determined that the truck driver was under the influence at the time of the accident. He was detained on accusations of DUI causing bodily harm.

While clearing the wreckage, crews shut down the Westside Parkway highway and Truxtun Avenue in both directions. But, the road has since reopened.
