Three men were shot early this morning as they left The Echo nightclub on Sunset Boulevard, according to The Eastsider L.A.

The gunman was sitting on a Harley Davidson outside the popular Echo Park nightspot when he opened fire on the crowd at about 2:10 a.m.

Police told The Eastsider L.A. that the motive remains unknown, but that the shooting does not appear to be gang-related. Two of the victims were treated and released, while a third was still in the hospital with a gunshot wound to the torso.

The gunman was described as white or Latino, 5-foot-8 to 5-foot-11, weighing 200-230 pounds. He was dressed in black, with a motorcycle helmet and boots.

In comments at The Eastsider, LAPD Lt. Wes Buhrmester counsels Echo Park residents not to worry too much about the safety of their neighborhood:

This was not borne out of any activity by the victims, or by the establishment. We are trying to establish motive. While it is not apparent as those of many crimes, there was some reason for the suspect to fire at the group, and we will ascertain it. Echo Park is still an excellent place to live, work, visit and do business. Unfortunately, no areas are immune to violence.
