Event PickAs we celebrate Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day, it’s nice to support and spotlight gals breaking boundaries in unique and badass ways. Kim Galdamez of Born for Burning LA is doing just that with the Metal Merchants Market, a gathering where Angelenos can bang their heads and bust out their wallets with cool buys on t-shirts, stickers, accessories, home decor, art and of course music (vinyl, CDs and tapes), all with a decidedly metallic vibe. Taking place every three months at Club Bahia, the event features over 50 vendors selling logo-emblazoned stuff from heavy rock stalwarts like Slayer, Pantera, Motorhead and Anthrax, as well as newer bands from genres like dark metal, death metal and other kinds of metal a lot of us probably never heard of. There’s also sets from bands local and touring and ops to meet and greet, which is how the mosher-mash started to begin with. Galdamez books metal shows and during COVID, the market was a safe pivot that proved successful.  Speaking of COVID, if you’re still wary of indoor events, this one mostly takes place on two parking lots outside. (The crowd is maybe too young to make a ref to the iconic documentary, Heavy Metal Parking Lot, but we can’t resist. See trailer below).  There will also be a photo booth and music will include Black Sabbath covers performed by Echoes in Tune and an Ozzy Osbourne tribute by Wizzardz of Ozz.  At Club Bahia, 1130 Sunset Blvd. Echo Park.  Doors at 11 a.m. (VIP) and Noon (GA). Tickets at the door and at bornforburning.us/
