Thr33 6ix 5ive Days of HoneyLuv: Los Angeles-based house and techno producer and DJ HoneyLuv got her start producing when she was in middle school.

“I would create beats on my Casio piano and then record lyrics over them but that was short lived,” she says. “I didn’t circle back to music till I moved to L.A.  My two very good friends Rayna and Mondrea were encouraging me to DJ because I was always on the aux cord and choosing the right songs. So eventually, I bought my first decks in the spring/ summer of 2018 and practiced all day and all night till I got comfortable enough to play outside at parties. DJing and producing got serious for me right after I was honorably discharged from the military in December of 2020. I promised myself that this was what I was going to do and I would never work for anyone else but myself and that was history.”

Today, she describes her sound as “deep sexy soulful tech house.”

“I love a good groove, because that’s the bread and butter right there,” she says. “My sound is definitely still developing but the basics of it is soulful. Music that has some soul and makes you move.”

HoneyLuv feels that Los Angeles is an open place when it comes to electronic music.

“I feel all genres of it are accepted here which is rare, because I feel the music knowledge people have here is just to the point that they understand and appreciate the music a lot more than other cities, that only really cater to one specific genre in electronic music,” she says. “So L.A. is still growing, it’s not New York, but it is  definitely right behind it when it comes to the appreciation for this music.”

Her latest release is “Thr33 6ix 5ive.”

“‘365’ was created in a zoom session,” she says. “We pretty much went in with an open mind by not expecting or trying to achieve a specific sound or theme. It just came to us naturally, like most sessions and you vibe off the ideas being thrown in the room. So once we got the idea down it was on and popping.”

Looking ahead, HoneyLuv has plenty planned for the coming months.

“I have some remixes and some new underground tunes coming out in the next month or so,” she says. “I’m super excited for everyone to hear those. Releasing on one of my dream labels, Hot Creations this fall as well. I’m doing a few shows over in Europe and Australia that will be an amazing time. So I’m super excited about everything that is in store and I’m so grateful for it all.”
