60-Year-Old Man Dead after Bicycle Accident near San Gregorio

SAN MATEO COUNTY, CA (June 29, 2022)  On Monday, a bicycle accident on Highway 1 claimed the life of 60-year-old Thomas Hampe.

The crash occurred on the afternoon of June 25th, along northbound in the Highway 1 near San Gregorio.

According to the CHP, a gray Nissan Altima traveling northbound at an unsafe speed, lost control and struck Hampe. The collision threw Hampe into a dirt embankment along the roadside.

First responders arrived at the scene and pronounced 60-year-old Hampe dead.

Meanwhile, the driver of the Nissan was taken to Stanford Medical Center for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

At this time, officials said an active investigation into the crash is ongoing. The San Mateo police district will release updates once available.
