It's another great week for live music in Los Angeles, with The B-52s closing out the Hollywood Bowl's summer season, Marques Wyatt's Deep celebrating its "Sweet 16," and an appearance by critically acclaimed country maverick Kacey Musgraves. Friday, Sept. 11
We're not sure what songs Paul Stanley will perform when his new R&B cover band, Soul Station, takes the stage at the Roxy. But in our Q&A with the legendary KISS frontman, one of the groups he mentions is the supremely underrated Detroit quintet The Dramatics, so we begin our playlist this week with their 1971 hit "Whatcha See Is Whatcha Get" — a phrase that has applied to Stanley throughout his career, even when he's in full Starchild makeup.

Elsewhere on Friday: Concrete Blonde singer/bassist Johnette Napolitano steps out for a solo show at Hotel Cafe, country hellraiser Kacey Musgraves brings her "Country & Western Rhinestone Revue" to the Wiltern, and a double bill of The Psychedelic Furs and The B-52s closes out the Hollywood Bowl's summer season on a totally '80s note.

Saturday, Sept. 12
San Diego surf punks Wavves play the first of two L.A. shows at the Troubadour; they'll also be at the Teragram Ballroom on Monday. Twin Peaks and SWMRS support both shows. To celebrate its sweet 16th anniversary, Marques Wyatt's roving house music institution Deep lands at the Belasco, with a headlining set by Yoruba Records' Osunlade.

Sunday, Sept. 13
Belgian DJ/producer Aeroplane soundtracks one of the season's last pool parties at Skybar, with supporting sets by Bolivar, Jamie Prado, Rambo V and Anton Borin.

The enigmatic Ms. Lauryn Hill headlines the Greek Theatre, where she'll hopefully perform songs from her classic LP, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, alongside her recent protest anthem, "Black Rage (Sketch)," and her unflinching interpretations of Nina Simone's catalog.

Tuesday, Sept. 15
Matthewdavid's excellent L.A. beat label Leaving Records begins a three-week residency at Los Globos with sets by lo-fi soundscape architect MNDSGN and hip-hop duo 5 Chuckles, featuring masked rapper The Koreatown Oddity and cosmic beatmaker Ras G. At Bluewhale, L.A. saxophonist Jonathan Rowden fronts two of his projects, the more traditional Jonathan Rowden Group and the experimental-leaning WYR.

Wednesday, Sept. 16
Southern Lord label head Greg Anderson brings the doom-meets-stoner metal riffage of his on-again, off-again band Goatsnake to the Mystery Box in DTLA; they'll also be Alex's Bar in Long Beach on Thursday.

Thursday, Sept. 17
San Diego musician Tristan Shone custom-builds the instruments he uses in his Author & Punisher project to produce a harsh, drone-metal sound. Shone and his visually striking "doom machines" will be on display at Complex in Glendale. At the Echoplex, Scottish DJ duo Optimo headline Club Not Club, where they will likely break out experimental, synth-heavy tracks from their Optimo Music label by artists like Golden Teacher. French DJ/producer Joakim is also on the bill, playing a live set. At DTLA's Palace Theatre, local singer-songwriter and in-demand producer (Alabama Shakes, Sara Watkins) Blake Mills plays a solo headlining show.
