You've perhaps debated the lineup, read Nightranger's survival guide, gotten the reasoned perspective from Falling James, seen a certain local blog's mixtape and even tried to gauge the hippie traffic patterns.

You either have the compunction for Sunset Junction, or you don't.

Fact is, it's a busy weekend for live music in Los Angeles even without the the 30th installment of the annual street fair. So in the interests of spanning the globe that is L.A., here are some non-Junction functions:

Three big deals in the great out of doors:

— It's he's my brother/she's my sister tonight at the Greek Theatre, where Rufus Wainwright and Martha Wainwright perform.

— The legendary Al Green hits the Greek on Saturday night (with the Pointer Sisters in tow).

— And John Mayer holds forth at the Hollywood Bowl on Sunday evening.

Three free deals in the great out of doors:

— Cambodian psych-pop outfit Dengue Fever plays tonight at the Levitt Pavilion in Pasadena.

— Saturday's Grand Performances bill at California Plaza downtown features “The Nortec Collective presents: Bostich & Fussible,” along with Mr. Vallenato and Ceci Bastida.

— And if you want to be close to Sunset Junction without $20 leaving your wallet, there are local bands such as Dante Vs. Zombies, White Arrows, Light FM, Useless Keys and Summer Darling playing a stage at Malo as part of Conjunction Junction.

Three club shows that might top a list on any other weekend:

— Crowded House plays Club Nokia tonight behind its excellent new album “Intriguer.”

— John Legend & the Roots hold forth tonight at the Troubadour.

— Local folkies Chief celebrate the release of their debut “Modern Rituals” on Domino with a show tonight at the Bootleg Theater.
