The Culture Collide festival, which kicked off Thursday night at five venues in Silver Lake, Echo Park and downtown, is making for some wonderful daze in the neighborhood.

The brainchild of Filter music mag, the inaugural event has imported bands from more than a dozen nations, sprinkled them onto bills with U.S. and local acts and called it a festival — and tonight's guitar-heavy lineup at the Echo and Echoplex and Sunday's street fair in Echo Park are evidence that somebody has their finger on the pulse.

Tonight's lineup, for instance, brings noisy Canadians the Besnard Lakes and Land of Talk together with noisy Brits Klaxons, the Boxer Rebellion and Amusement Parks on Fire. (Klaxons are playing a sold-out show at the Troubadour on Saturday too.) Not far away, at Spaceland, noisy (and fun) Spaniard El Guincho headlines.

Sunday's outdoors event goes off on Reservoir Street between Sunset and Alvarado in Echo Park and it's headlined by local darlings Jenny & Johnny, with Tokyo Police Club, Phantogram, Fran Healy of Travis and White Lies all joining in the three-stage mayhem.

— Arcade Fire plays the second of its two-night stand tonight at the Shrine Auditorium.

— Reformed U.K. shoegazers Chapterhouse — with Ulrich Schnauss opening and playing keyboards in the band — plays to a sold-out Troubadour.

— Caribou plugs tonight in at the Music Box, with Nite Jewel opening.

— Liz Phair gets all “Funstyle” tonight at the El Rey Theatre.

— Jack Johnson plays a sold-out Hollywood Bowl tonight.

— Maroon 5 and OneRepublic do shows tonight and Saturday at the Greek Theatre.

— Husband-and-wife team the Weepies play the El Rey on Sunday behind their new album “Be My Thrill.”

— And '80s faves Tom Tom Club get their genius back to do a night at the Echoplex.
