“An anachronistic nightmare” is what they're calling the Gears & Teeth Steampunk Fetish Extravaganza, and while you won't see any stunning displays of Victorian child leper labor or dropsy-infested debtors prisons, you'll simply have to make do with all the pomp and pageantry that is the new fetish of steampunk. Steampunk, in case you didn't get the memo, is a kind of fashion suffused with 19th-century science-fantasy notions in a well-meaning attempt to sexualize everything from dirigibles to iron hands. There are the usual fetish pros — Goddess Soma, Master Feenix, etc. — and an invitation-only Den of Iniquity (is there any other kind?); the usual maniacs from Sin-a-Matic and Bar Sinister; and DJs sprinkled throughout, playing the general overall stompy-crunchy EBM and industrial you've come to love – although not on Victrolas, which is sad. “Mundane” attire, we are told, will be turned away — and cake is always available for those who cannot afford soup!
