While you were busy swing dancing, JC Coccoli's been hosting a newish night of “speakeasy-esque” standup comedy. Hear her explain why Keep it Clean Comedy came to exist. “Working comics in L.A. were in dire need of a speakeasy spot to work their showcase material. Prepping for performances on Leno, Conan and Carson Daly, comedians can stop in and punch up sets. Nestled away in Los Feliz proper, tortured hipsters can pop in for a beer, food and oh snap, famous comics. No cover. No minimum. So now, smart, edgy and alternative comedy finally has a home that brings musical humor, character impersonations and stand-up to the forefront. If you heckle, they'll eat you alive. I've seen it happen, and it was glorious.” She would also like to add: “So, in your face New York.”
