Los Angeles, your votes (all 42,876 of them!) have been counted. Below are the 10 semi-finalists for our best live band in L.A. contest.

Narrowed down from a list of 58, these 10 groups put on killer live performances in smaller venues around town.

This next round of voting will narrow this list down to just three finalists. Each of those three groups will each be profiled on our pages, including a shoot with an L.A. Weekly videographer.

This voting period lasts just a week, today through February 26, so vote now! (Note: The voting is now closed.)

The finalists are, in alphabetical order:

Bella Novela
Long Beach-based two woman, one man rock act Bella Novela craft uptempo tunes featuring alternatively shredding and explosive guitars, making them a fixture in the OC and LBC rock scene.

El Conjunto Nueva Ola
Originally from Mexico City, the six man band El Conjunto Nueva Ola plays cumbia with hints of new wave, rock and disco. They perform while wearing luchadore masks, and do cumbia-style covers of classics like “Funky Town” and 'Take On Me.” Having have transcended cover band status, they perform at SXSW next month.

The Janks
Four piece blues/folk/rock outfit The Janks play around town at the Bootleg, Hotel Cafe and bars including O'Briens in Santa Monica. They also had residency at the Satellite and will be heading to SXSW next month. The group is fronted by brothers Zachary and Dylan Zmed, who sing pretty, plaintive harmonies while also killing it on guitar.

Kan Wakan
Kan Wakan is a three piece outfit who make delicately ethereal indie pop, which incorporates jazz, electronic beats and orchestral touches. The group has played the taste-making School Night at Bardot and is in the midst of a Monday night residency at the Echoplex.

King Washington
A local fixture since 2006, King Washington is a three man rock act that infuses a classic guitar rock sound with tightly harmonized vocals. Their debut album The Gears was released in 2012, and a 2014 West Coast tour is in the works.

Mars & the Massacre
Three piece psych/rock band Mars & the Massacre play songs about drinking beer and getting fucked up and their website notes that they have come from “Mars to fuck your eardrums.” But for all of this guitar driven aggression, they maintain a melodic sensibility that has made them a favorite at venues like the Silverlake Lounge, where they had a residency last November.

The New Electric Sound
Originally hailing from Provo, Utah, The New Electric Sound does smart indie pop with a blue-eyed soul meets surf rock sensibility. The five guy group is currently in the midst of a Monday night residency at the Silverlake Lounge.

Planets
This music-and-performance collective, which stylizes its name as P L a N E T S, describes itself as an “eerie post-modern garage rock opera” inspired by TV shows like Twin Peaks, The Twilight Zone and Lost. Live, the 20 or so members make darkly compelling psych rock reminiscent of “Red Right Hand”-era Nick Cave.

yOya
Dubbing themselves “folktronic,” two man band yOya makes sort of modern easy listening music that sometimes tends towards Midlake/Fleet Foxes territory. The band's debut LP was released in 2010, and they  performs next month at the Bootleg and depart on a West Coast tour in April.
