Everyone loves a list, particularly a ranked list. We do. David Letterman does. Water companies do. Thus S. Pellegrino has just announced their list of the World's 50 Best Restaurants. For the second year in a row, Noma in Copenhagen comes in at the number one spot. (Two years ago it was El Bulli.) Number two is Spain's El Celler de Can Roca; and third place goes to Mugaritz, also in Spain. Grant Achatz' restaurant Alinea placed sixth, the highest placing for an American restaurant. Per Se was number 10, Daniel number 11, and Le Bernardin number 18.

According to the website, the list is organised by Restaurant magazine and created from “The World's 50 Best Restaurants Academy, an influential group of over 800 international leaders in the restaurant industry each selected for their expert opinion of the international restaurant scene.” The site recently named Anne-Sophie Pic, of Maison Pic in Valence, France, the World's Best Female Chef.

Check the website for a complete list of the top 100 restaurants. One wonders how many of these restaurants serve Pellegrino.
