Strap on some chaps, buckle your helmet and rev your engine in the name of organized anarchy, because it’s time to be a badass. Military veterans team up with the stars of Sons of Anarchy as well as ticket-buying civilians for a huge group ride in the name of charity. But don’t be fooled — even though proceeds from the third annual 2013 Boot Ride and Rally go to benefit the Boot Campaign, a nonprofit that helps wounded military servicemen and -women returning home from battle, this isn’t a tree-hugging, bleeding-heart day at the park. This event is about metal, and beards, and seriously loud motorcycles roaring in wild pack formation through the streets of L.A. The destination will be a “rally” after-party at the Happy Ending Bar & Restaurant on Sunset, where long-haired rockers Blackberry Smoke and Tyler Bryant & the Shakedown will provide live entertainment for all the thirsty bikers enjoying their cold brews and spicy hot wings. In the last two years, the Boot Campaign has raised more than $100,000 to help combat veterans with housing, employment and medical care, and the annual Boot Ride and Rally is its most fun, and rowdy, way of public fundraising for these returning soldiers. Ladies, are you listening? Here’s your perfect chance to meet a biker bad boy with a heart of gold. Happy ending, indeed. Happy Ending Bar & Restaurant, 7038 W. Sunset Blvd., Hlywd.; Sun., Aug. 25, lunch 11 a.m., ride 1:30 p.m., rally 3 p.m.; ride $150, rally $35. (323) 469-7038, bootride.com.
