Downtown LA’s fun underground bar, Lilly Rose, is teaming up with Scottish distillery Bruichladdich on Wednesday, July 27, at 8 p.m., to host a private screening of “The Water of Life” documentary, along with an interactive whiskey-tasting experience.

The event will feature an intimate chat about the 90-minute film centered around the Bruichladdich Distillery, a welcome drink and tasting flight paired with light bites, and a Q&A with the film’s director following the screening. Tickets for the 21+ event are $25 per person and can be purchased here.

Magnum ice cream, the chocolatiers of ice cream, have teamed up with women’s beauty brand, Nails Inc., to launch a new line of chocolate-scented nail polishes inspired by the new Magnum ice cream Duet Bars. In the Magnum ice cream’s Indulgence Studio, chocoholics can create their own Magnum moments at its stylish pop-up at the  Freehand Hotel. Indulge with the Magnum ice cream edible spray paint bar, champagne and ice cream sampling, as well as free manicures with celebrity nail artist Mei Kawajiri-inspired designs on Friday, July 22, and Saturday, July 23, from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. 

Rise Southern Biscuits & Righteous Chicken, the award-winning biscuit and chicken concept based in Durham, North Carolina, will open its doors in Thousand Oaks on Friday, July 29. Located in the Conejo Valley Plaza shopping center, Rise is locally owned and operated by  Bill Propster. The restaurant is offering its social media followers an opportunity to try free biscuits and chicken in a special preview event at the store on Thursday, July 28. LouLou, the new French-Mediterranean restaurant and lounge with a California touch, will host its grand opening on Saturday, July 23, at Santa Monica Place. The rooftop with ocean view features greenery, candlelit trees and earthy design components. The opening takes place all day on Saturday starting at 11:30 a.m. for brunch, featuring DJs and live performances. Reserve on OpenTable

Caldo Verde at Downtown L.A. Proper is bringing back Suzanne Goin and Caroline Styne’s beloved Sunday Supper dinner series, made popular at their former Lucques restaurant. Kicking off on Sunday, July 24, and returning every third Sunday, the series will feature a new pre-fixed menu each month, as curated by chef Goin. The debut dinner features tomato and watermelon salad with sherry honey vinaigrette, and a choice of grilled blue fish with yellow tomato confit, garlic and chile, or lamb sirloin paillard with summer vegetable tian, queso oaxaca and mint crema. Blue cornmeal shortcakes with peaches, mint, crème fraîche and ice cream are for dessert.

On National Tequila Day Sunday, July 24, the Patron Blender Bike will be cruising into 3rd Base LA  from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., offering giveaways and a custom Patrón Bike that’s powered to make personalized blended margaritas while you pedal.  

A shareable Margarita Tree will feature four colorful margarita flavors (strawberry, prickly pear, passion fruit, and Dodger blue) hanging in mini Patrón bottles that are displayed on a large “tree” for the table,  available to order at the happy hour pricing ($55), all day long.
