Comedy might come in threes, but comedy teams come in twos, from Abbott and Costello to Odenkirk and Cross. Add Chris and David Walsh to the list of hilarious twosomes — a pair who, if they ever crossed the Sklar brothers in an alley, would probably deliver wedgies to the twins. Over the past eight years, the Walshes have been bowling over their fellow Bostonians with their “wicked re-tah-ded” tales from taunting a gay friend in their youth (“He once threatened us: ‘Knock it off or I’ll come over there and suck all your dicks,’?” exclaims David) to impersonating police officers around town. Their crassness aside, the Walshes excel in their vaudevillian style, whether they’re stepping on each other’s lines to progress a standup bit or knocking on carnival barkers and magicians in their sketches. Listening to them riff on their brotherhood, one realizes that their sense of timing isn’t refined but, rather, inherent.

“I’m the older one,” says David, “but then it depends on who gets the haircut.” “Actually, I auditioned to be the brother,” responds Chris. “We met on Craigslist.” And while these punks seem like they’d harass you for wearing a New York Yankees jersey, the stereotype couldn’t be further from the truth. “Everyone identifies with how much Red Sox fans hate Yankee fans, but we really don’t give a fuck. We’re more likely to wear a Yankees uniform and fuck with our Boston fans. Because when you get down to it, both teams’ fans are in the same bed together.” The Improv, 8162 Melrose Ave., Hlywd.; Thurs., Sept. 28, 8 p.m.; $10, resv. recommended. (323) 651-2583. Also at Comedy Death Ray, at Upright Citizens Brigade, 5919 Franklin Ave., Hlywd.; Tues., Sept. 26, 8:30 p.m.$5.
