The Varnish, 213 Nightlife's acclaimed bar in the back of Cole's, celebrates its fifth anniversary today. To honor this milestone, the bar will be hosting a number of special events beginning tonight, Feb. 24, with its official fifth birthday party. 

Tonight at the bar, founding partners Eric Alperin and Sasha Petraske will co-host the Varnish's official birthday party with GM Max Seaman. The two bartenders, who are both considered booze legends, will be behind the bar serving a specialty cocktail menu and complimentary Brugal rum and Taittinger Champagne punch and shots of Amaro Ramazzotti.

Over the next month, former Varnish bartenders will be popping up behind the bar every Monday night in what they're calling the Bartender Reunion Series. From 7-11 p.m., these former Varnish bartenders will prepare a limited edition menu for the evening. Here's the calendar:

March 3:
Marcos Tello (The Edison, 1886 and Los Balcones)

March 10:
Eugene Shaw (Scopa and Bottled in Bond) & Daniel Eun Esq. (former bartender at PDT, currently practicing law in LA)

March 17:
Chris Bostick (Half Step, Austin, TX)

March 24:
Chris Ojeda (Soho House)

March 31:
Alexander Day & Devon Tarby (Honeycut and Proprietors, LLC)
