According to the blog Obama Foodorama, today the USDA rebooted the National Farmers Market Directory. It's apparently “nutrition info week” at the Department of Agriculture, which was the happy occasion for the upgrade. The state-by-state directory, which can be searched by state, county, zip code and participation in federal nutrition assistance programs, now includes a mapping feature and reformatted data sets. This year, according to the USDA, there were 6,132 operational farmers markets in this country, or 16% more than 2009.
