L.A. is starting to take itself seriously as a hub for tech innovation. Seems a day doesn't go by that we don't get pitched on some new sharing-economy concept or celebrity-stalking app.

So Silicon Beach is here to stay. But with all the chatter out there, it can be hard to tell what's for real. Well, now Socaltech.com has made a solid stab at identifying the Top 50 up-and-comers in the L.A. tech scene.

The full list is here. Of course, there's Evan Spiegel, the 23-year-old CEO of Snapchat, who recently turned down a $3 billion offer from Facebook. Also from the world of social media is Sean Rad of Tinder, which has been called the Pandora of hooking up.
In the e-commerce arena, the list includes Michael Dubin, the founder of Dollar Shave Club, whose YouTube ad (screenshot above) helped establish the L.A. company's dude-oriented brand. There's also Melani Gordon, whose San Diego-based Taphunter connects people with craft beer.
Gordon is one of the few women on the list — we counted five women out of the 52 listees. So some room for improvement there.
Not on the list: Joshua Bocanegra, whose L.A.-based LoveRoom has been called the “Airbnb of attractive people.” LoveRoom has been getting a lot of press recently — most of it skeptical or dismissive. But who knows, maybe next year.
Check out the full list.
