A couple of “shits,” “douchebags” and a “son of a bitch” later and Steven Spielberg’s E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial was a far cry from The Apple Dumpling Gang. Never before — with the exception of The Bad News Bears — had kids spoken with fresh, loud mouths.
