Matthew Fleischer over at L.A. Flaneur has a great post on the death of Glendale experimental/punk outpost The Scene.

According to Fleischer in his post:

Under new ownership, The Scene is now LaBrie's — which, according to its Facebook page is “A casual yet upscale neighborhood bar with great happy hour specials. Multiple flat screens for sports viewing. Nightlife features live bands and premier DJ's.”

I spoke with new owner Jimmy LaBrie last Sunday night. He says aside from giving the place a facelift, he's going to focus on landing bigger indie acts. No more 20 minute sets of experimental noise. “We definitely to upgrade the quality of bands.”
