The venerable 21st-century form of entertainment that is the podcast can be a daunting one to embrace, not because it isn't piss-easy to obtain (usually free, easy enough to download or stream) but because there are so many out there it's hard to separate the wheat from the chaff. This Friday, for a nominal fee and courtesy of the marvelous Meltdown Comics, you can sample one of the funnier chat-casts in person, as Battleship Pretension Live! unspools in the store's gallery space. Hosts David Bax and Tyler Smith — who regularly preside over the weekly film geek-focused topics, ranging from “Homage vs. Rip-off” to “Great Directors, Awful Movies” — will emcee a live taping of their smart, witty podcast along with a panel of cinema and comedy-savvy guests, including MST3K alum Frank Coniff, comedians Jimmy Pardo (pictured) and Ed Salazar, and more.
