Friday, Dec. 21

Those excited for Django Unchained, the new film from our cover boy, Quentin Tarantino, should check out Django, the 1966 Sergio Corbucci spaghetti Western that helped inspire the film, playing at the Tarantino-owned New Beverly Cinema tonight through Sunday, Dec. 23.

If you like alcohol with your holiday films, the Downtown Independent's weekly Double Feature Drink-Along tonight is Home Alone and Edward Scissorhands. Doors open at 8 p.m. to let you buy hot cocoa and seasonal beers before Alone begins at 9 p.m.

Saturday, Dec. 22

Both West Siders and Hollywoodites can get their annual It's a Wonderful Life fix thanks to the American Cinematheque, which screens the classic at the Egyptian in Hollywood tonight and at the Aero in Santa Monica on Friday, Dec. 21, and Sunday, Dec. 23.

Monday, Dec. 24

Tonight Cinefamily begins a run of a new print of Daisies, Vera Chytilová's 1966 film about two young Czech girls, both named Marie, who play pranks and create other random acts of anarchy. It also screens Dec. 26-30.

And in an event clearly aimed at Jewish audiences searching for Christmas Eve activities, three local Laemmle theaters are holding a Sing-Along Fiddler on the Roof, with lyric sheets provided. Screenings begin at 7:30 p.m. at the Royal in West L.A., the NoHo 7 in North Hollywood and the Town Center 5 in Encino.
