Although born in Orlando, Florida, DeAna Fai was raised in the the Hampton Roads area of Virginia at which it played a part in shaping who she is as a person and entertainer.
She attended First Baptist Church of Hampton, Va. as a child where she was an avid choir member, although she was a part of several ministries. Her passion for music surfaced during this time as Lorene Marable-Safavinia, her late and close aunt whom she called “Rene,” made it her duty to explore this as a career. Joshua Head, former Youth Church Director, was instrumental in bringing some of DeAna Fai’s original contemporary gospel songs to life during her adolescent years.
She also participated on the song “Sing A Song For Love” for Healthy Families Partnership that aired worldwide when she was young. Years later her original song “City of Hope” aired on Radio Disney to support children with cancer while attending Bethel High School, which is also alma mater to sports legend Allen Iverson.
DeAna Fai returned to her home church as an adult and her original song “Family Reunion” eventually became the Theme Song for an Annual Youth Choir Reunion celebration that DeAna Fai created and it lasted some years.
While majoring in Biology Pre-Med at Norfolk State University, DeAna Fai took music courses to understand the music business and determine how to be successful as an independent artist. Her music professor, Rogers Brown became a mentor offering his expertise in the field from his experience at being the owner and performer of a group he coined “Rajazz.” Simultaneously, DeAna Fai wrote and co-produced several songs. Her song “Grown Woman” aired on WOWI 103 Jamz, and WNSB Hot 91.1. Not too long after, DeAna Fai was offered the opportunity by the late Heavy D and Former Bad Boy Records Engineer “J.F. Bey” to attempt a placement on Heavy D’s last album “Love Opus.” She then invited her then-producer, “Onzie,” who was also from Virginia, to join her on this journey for the opportunity as well. No deal was secured however, DeAna Fai explained she learned a great deal from Heavy D, and was able to be amongst a group of renowned A&R’s, musicians, songwriters and engineers at Daddy’s House Recording Studio in New York. She also was instrumental in securing a placement for her and the producer years later.
The Record Label “Oxymoron Music Entertainment, LLC” was established in 2014 by DeAna Fai. Since then, DeAna Fai has connected with a plethora of renown industry vets but specifically Steven Vincent, Vice President of Music & Soundtracks for the Disney Channel and has also secured placements in “My Favorite Five,” “Hey Mr. Postman,” “Perfectly Single,” “Puzzled,” and “Empire” without representation. She also appeared on “Loni Love’s Quarantine Talent Show” that aired on Instagram Live with about 100,000 viewers. DeAna Fai now has her own podcast “DeAna Fai presents Kings and Queens of Entertainment” starring a diverse group of celebrities in entertainment. According to DeAna Fai, celebrities from various areas in the entertainment industry were blindly arranged on panels and asked various questions. The platform aided in building networks and interactions with other renown entertainers and fans. The podcast highlights celebrities Makeba Woods, DJ Babey Drew, DJ Wayne Williams, Angela White, Stevie Edwards, Courtney Nichole, Larry Sims, Sharaya J, Conroe Brooks, Dr. Chanita Foster, Stevie Edwards, James Worthy, and forty plus more.
Deana Fai, the podcast’s host, is back with a fresh spin called “DeAna Fai presents Kings and Queens of Entertainment Reunion Recap & Giveback” which is said to be released later this year. This video edition is the season finale for Season One, which is primarily dedicated to raising awareness for two foundations: The National Breast Cancer Foundation and the American Stroke Association. Some of the show’s stars came back to help with the initiative inclusive to Claudia Jordan, Kenneth Okolie, Rodney Perry, Tony Dofat, Rosemary Rodriguez, Erica Hubbard, Rebecca King Crews, Candace Wakefield, Lady Luck, Melvin Jackson Jr., D-Teck, Rayshun LaMarr, Dunlap Exclusive, DJ Pryor, TT The Artist, Rob Gordon, Stevie Boi, Jackie’s Boy, Angelique Bates, Erika Ringor, Hannon Lane, Tyrell Crawford, Kenya Brown, Sprague, Tehran Von Ghasri, Brandon Broady, and Carrie Bernans. Expect to hear some of DeAna Fai’s new music “We Can Be More,” “Challenge,” and her Theme Song “Kings and Queens” when the show airs.
DeAna Fai is an uncommon creator, who utilizes her success to inspire those around her. As an artist and songwriter, DeAna Fai combines several genres creating her melodious songs sometimes before collaborating with a producer. The type of music DeAna Fai creates can be classified as Pop, with a mix of contemporary R&B, soul, hip-hop, and techno music. Her musical inspiration comes from her own life experiences as well as the music she loved while growing up. DeAna Fai’s sound is fresh, new, and different. The majority of the music she creates has a purpose: to make the listener feel good. She has been influenced by the works, business since and philanthropy of Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson, and Beyoncé. Her fashion, in comparison to the norm of traditional R&B, is unlike any other, in that she tends to lean more towards an eclectic touch of medieval, emo, and pop culture. DeAna Fai’s music video “Me and Mine” starring Grammy, Dove & Stellar Award Winning Music Producer Dunlap Exclusive is set to be released this year.
