The West Hollywood Costume Carnaval is always the place for the most clever, topical costumes. Last year, it was Chilean miners, Steven Slater (the pissy Jet Blue employee), Jimi Heselden (deceased owner of Segway Inc.) and Lady Gagas galore. So for 2011, what'll it be, boys? Men dressed as Michelle Bachmann or teary-eyed John Boehners? West Hollywood director of communications Andy Keown remembers his all-time favorites: the Twister Sisters. “It was four of them in drag, and they had these fancy dresses made out of Twister mats,” he recalls. “One of them was a costume designer, so their outfits were amazing. And of course they had the Twister spinner on hand so they could 'interact' with the public.” Think of something original and join the Lady Gagas, Sarah Palins, Steve Jobses and Angry Birds making their way down Santa Monica Boulevard, many flashing their bare asses. Santa Monica Boulevard, W. Hlywd., between Doheny & La Cienega; Mon., Oct. 31, 6-11 p.m.; free (parking an arm & a leg); westhollywoodhalloween.com/carnaval2011/.
