How do nocturnal animal lovers enjoy the zoo? Simple: They go to the L.A. Zoo's Roaring Nights. An extension of the zoo's normal operating hours, Roaring Nights, which debuted July 11, has two more nights ahead for patrons 18 and older. It's more than just an extension, though — Roaring Nights also features performances by local bands plus multiple bars and food trucks. There also will be a dance party at the zoo's carousel, for all those kids at heart who have ever looked at a carousel and thought, “You know, that could really use a DJ,” and stand-up comedians at the petting zoo. Los Angeles Zoo, 5333 Zoo Drive, Griffith Park; Thurs., July 18 & 25, 7 p.m.; $15 members, $18 non-members. (323) 644-4200, lazoo.org/roaringnights.

Thu., July 18, 7 p.m.; Fri., July 19, 7 p.m., 2013
