With V.I.P. tickets selling for $500 apiece and regular old general admission tickets going for $150, attending this coming Saturday's 6th Annual L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center benefit Simply diVine! can't be the most cost-effective way of showing support for the queer community. It'll be tasty though.

Curated by Susan Feniger, David Bailey, and Wendy Melford, the food and wine at Two Rodeo will come courtesy of some of the city's most celebrated restaurants and the region's best-known wineries: AOC, Border Grill, Craft, The Gorbals, Hudson House, Frogmore Creek, Inception Wines, and Vina Robles, to name just a small sample. An auction of vacation packages, spa treatments, and luxury goods will accompany the gastronomic excess.

Well-heeled readers may be wondering what they'll receive for rolling V.I.P. (and dropping an extra $350). V.I.P. guests will receive, in addition to the pedestrian perks of general admission, a pre-party featuring a tasting of rare wines and a seafood feast catered by McCormick and Schmick's.

The wine will be “delivered” via drip. Each V.I.P. guest will be outfitted with a “wine tube” and a remote controlled selector allowing him or her to pick wines and adjust the intensity and frequency of the drip. Trained, de-scummified, gold-plated gulls will circle the room, sliding sweet, naked, perfectly peeled (by gulls, no less) ridgeback prawns into the V.I.P. mouths. We're kidding about all that, sorry, but the delicacies and libations have to be pretty epic in order to justify the steep price hike.
