Considering the recent succession of “Taste of” events (Downtown Burbank, The Americas, Arcadia) — showcases of local culture through sips and bites from the creme of the community crop — one might think that Angelinos would have had their fill. And yet, the inaugural Taste of Abbot Kinney is shaping up to be one of the hottest tickets in town this weekend. From 2 – 7 p.m. on Sunday, the tea-sipping yoginnis and the macrobiotic beach combers that usually stroll those first few blocks East of Venice Beach will be joined by hundreds of the hungry, the still not full, and the eager for more “Taste of”s — and Abbot Kinney will accommodate.

An expanding roster of stand-out restaurants, including Joe's, Intelligentsia, and The Tasting Kitchen, will be dishing out samples of their specialties to ticketholders (wristband-wearers) as they make their way East from event check in. But even after eating a straight line down the street, temporarily satiating the hunger for these kind of things, attendees should consider sticking around for the first installment of “Raising the Bar” mixology competition at Joe's Restaurant, or park it outside Jin Patisserie where they'll be offering a different sample every couple of hours. And although your wristband entitles you to only one of said treats, additional samples can be purchased from any of the restaurants participating in Sunday's festivities. All things considered, it would seem that A Taste of Abbot Kinney has all the makings of a walking tour-de-force de food. Though shuttles will also be available.

Tickets to A Taste of Abbot Kinney cost $60 and benefit Inside Out Arts Community.
