Just two hours outside of Los Angeles, the otherwordly, majestic cliffs of Red Rock Canyon State Park stand tall against pristine skies. Used as a filming location for major motion pictures like Jurassic Park, The Mummy, and William Wyler's The Big Country, the park now lures tourists and city dwellers eager for an escape from the urban crush of L.A. Here, astro timelapse photographer Gavin Heffernan has captured shots of the park's unique buttes, as well as June's giant “honey moon,” and more experimental “star trails” created by tracing their trajectory across the earth's natural rotation.
