Last Thursday we got a note from Andy Siara, he of the Henry Clay People, to inform us of an upcoming HCP show at the Echo and Echoplex that has the potential to be a great event: A Mustache Circus, slated for Friday, August 14. Says Siara:

We're callin it the “Rock n Roll Mustache Circus”— Us, Fol Chen, and Flying Tourbillon Orchestra. Kinda want to make a whole “event” out of the thing, not just a normal show. Currently working on getting a cotton candy machine, balloon animal makers, games (a friend just put on a mini carnival with skeeball, among other games, and said we can use them all), magicians, etc. We have other ideas, but those are the ones that will most likely be happening.

Also, being a “mustache circus” (not really sure what that means…), people who come wearing a mustache, or in circus attire, get a free CD with a new song by each of the bands playing. Those who come early get free pizza.

Between bands, scattered throughout the echoplex, we're going to have “side show” performers–our friends bands playing all acoustic sets. We have Le Switch, Marvelous Toy, and the Damselles so far…working on a couple more.

BASICALLY we just want to make it the show to be at, and tons of stuff going on throughout the night–not just 3 bands and a DJ.

Men: Consider this fair notice. You've got more than a month to start sculpting a mustache. Women: you've got more than a month to help the men retain their dignity given the fact that they'll be wearing 'staches.

This will occur just after the Henry Clay People's kinda-sorta debut on the national stage on August 7, when they perform Lollapalooza in Chicago. The band then hits the road again with the Airborne Toxic Event. See full list of dates below:
