Two of the worst things about holiday shopping are stressful traffic and contentious parking.

The people behind The Grove and The Americana at Brand might have just eliminated both those issues. Because, for the holiday shopping season, they're rolling out free Uber rides for their guests. And we're not talking about just any old Hyundai, either. We're talking about upscale Uber Black cars.

But, of course, there does seem to be a catch.

While rides to the shopping destinations are complimentary, it's a one-way deal unless you spend $450 or more at the properties' stores, according to a spokeswoman for Caruso Affiliated, the owner of the The Grove in L.A. and The Americana at Brand in Glendale.

Then you're going round trip, on the house, in a black car. And you could spend $450 in the blink of an eye at the Apple Store or Nordstrom, right?

In a statement, Caruso Affiliated calls this “an unprecedented holiday season partnership” with Uber.

The offer is available beginning on Black Friday, November 28, and will run until Christmas Eve, December 24, Caruso Affiliated says.

The company's founder and CEO, Rick J. Caruso, says:

Our partnership with Uber is a first of its kind for our industry. We are stepping out of our traditional parking model, and instead, bringing guests to our property in a seamless style that gives them back the gift of time. I want to create an elevated and more convenient experience for our guests, letting them know I care about them.

The developer indicates that if this works out for all involved, the offer could reappear after the holidays.

Caruso Affiliated suggests you download or open your Uber app for more info. However, the company says you can also call The Grove's concierge services desk at 323-900-8080 for more details.

Happy travels.
