Now that you’ve recovered from your understandably baffled rage at the networks for canceling Saturday morning cartoons, bop on down and be reborn as the Alex Film Society presents The Greatest Cartoons Ever! Animation historian Jerry Beck introduces and discuss cartoons from the 1930s through the ’50s that are seldom seen but still entertaining. There’s the 1934 Popeye short “A Dream Walking,” the Woody Woodpecker version of “Barber of Seville” from 1944, “Clock Cleaners” from 1937 with Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck and Goofy, “Señor Droopy” from 1949 and half a dozen more. All proceeds benefit the society.
