Two big DJs, two big nights of dance music in Hollywood this week. Friday, Deep LA bumps it up with Frankie Knuckles, widely considered the “godfather of house music.” Though originally from New York, Knuckles is best known for spreading the rhythmic sound in Chicago. At this point, he's a global sensation and his sets comprise the best roots of house sounds and innovative mixes. Deep's reliably body-rocking DJ/promoter Marques Wyatt opens. At Vanguard, 6021 Hollywood Blvd.; Fri., Dec. 10. https://deep-la.com. The next night, another respected house man, Miguel Migs takes a spin at Balance at the King King. The San Francisco deep house pusher is known for stellar remixes and for soulful soundscapes and production via his Salted Music dance label, endeavors that also influence his DJ sets. Expect an eclectic mix of tempos and selections. At King King, 6553 Hollywood Blvd.; Sat., Dec. 11. https://balance-la.com
