In case you tuned out from watching seminal BBC sci-fi TV show Doctor Who right around the time Fourth Doctor Tom Baker retired in 1981, this past year of the venerable series starring Tenth Doctor David Tennant was the most exciting and multifaceted one since, well, Tom Baker. To catch up, take a weekend out for GallifreyOne, the annual North American Doctor Who celebration, at the L.A. Airport Marriott. This year's soiree — the 21st and longest-running Doctor Who convention in the world — boasts guests Nicholas Briggs, the voice of the evil Daleks; Katy “Jo Grant” Manning, companion to the Third Doctor; Sarah “Nyssa” Sutton, companion to the Fifth Doctor; and, for some strange reason, Wendy Pini, co-creator of comic book Elfquest. Also: autograph sessions, the “Gamble With Time” casino, and cosplay and costuming (dibs on the Auton shells!) Boredom? EX-TER-MI-NATE!
