Since 9/11, it's difficult to attend a baseball game without the fear of someone wandering into the crowd with a bomb or remain calm when someone reaches down to tie their shoes on an airplane. Unattended suitcases, envelopes, white powder all carry connotations of fear. Not to mention the larger fears of wider biological and chemical terrorism. Some conspirators are even blaming our own country, calling the attack an inside job. And here we are ten years later, wondering how in the hell do we process all these changes? One way is to head down to Vroman's Bookstore for Granta and Pen Center USA's event commemorating the 10th anniversary of 9/11 and the release of Granta 116: Ten Years Later. In this beautiful hardcover book, Granta 116: Ten Years Later examines the effects of 9/11 through reporting, poetry, memoir, fiction, and photography. Come listen to renowned authors Dana Goodyear, Adam Johnson, Steve Erickson, and Los Angeles Times Book Critic, David Ulin, explore post-9/11 themes with readings and conversations. And these pieces aren't simply retelling the events of the infamous day, but it reflects on the way we've lived since. Vroman's Bookstore, 695 E.
