It's hard to believe that it's been only a year since rabidly anticipated TV series Lost finally resolved itself — insofar as any phenomenon can ever truly be resolved for studio executives and hard-core fans alike. And, much like a coke fiend picking at the fibers in the carpet hoping to find the dregs of his drugs, it's time for one more squirt of natural opiates spawned from parsing new information as the Lost and Star Trek mastermind sits down with his composer to talk about this and that for “Hammer Conversations: J.J. Abrams & Michael Giacchino.” Giacchino's one letter away from the Valhalla of the EGOT — having won an Emmy, Grammys and an Oscar — while Abrams will have just started to come down from the high of the opening of his film Super 8, which may finally finish the job of debunking the wonder of the alien that John Carpenter's The Thing started after E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial opened the same year three decades ago.
