This too was captured on video: As Inglewood police officer Jeremy Morse lifted his hand to punch handcuffed Donovan Jackson again, another Inglewood police officer, Mariano Salcedo, leaned in to block him. The intervention of Salcedo, a senior lead officer and eight-year veteran, appeared to end the violent confrontation and calm Morse down. It remains to be seen whether this good-guy act, captured so plainly on video, will be a persisting image of this bizarre episode. Salcedo himself was named in a still-active civil suit against the Inglewood police alleging false arrest and police brutality, and only the videographer has gone to jail.
