The Chocolate Bar is back, and it’s sure to fill the Eastside’s newest megaspace, the Ex_Plex, with sweet, sweet sounds. Those who went to the club night back in its heyday at Gabah know it was the place to hear groove-filled goodness, with reggae, hip-hop, dub and soul sounds provided by DJs Higher, T-Lee, Daz, Cokni O’Dire, and Shakespeare and Aurelito. The last two are known all over town thanks to their i&i Sound System (which provides body-rockin’ rhythms for festivals, parties and such from the back of an ice-cream truck), but C.B. is where all the fun began. The music is awesome, but what always made the night special was its welcoming vibe — anyone could melt into the funky family. Yes, this reunion is one to savor, and you can: After tonight it goes off weekly. At the Ex_Plex (below the Echo), 1822 Sunset Blvd., Echo Park; Fri., Feb. 23, 9 p.m.-3 a.m., and every Fri. thereafter; $10; over 21. (323) 860-8873.
