Hospitality mogul Robert Earl and his son, Robbie Earl, also known as the masterminds behind Planet Hollywood Hotels and Restaurants, Buca di Beppo, Flavortown by Guy Fieri and others have just opened The Breakfast Club in the heart of Hollywood.

Son Robbie has brought the empire into a space for the next generation with a fun nod to the 80’s heyday of his dad. A wink to the famous film directed by John Hughes which catapulted Molly Ringwald, Judd Nelson, Ally Sheedy and Anthony Michael Hall into stardom, the Instagram magnet is made for a new age of breakfast lovers.

The build your own cereal and ice cream bar  features signature flavors including vegan options. The grab-and-go breakfast counter features a gourmet coffee bar and bakery serving house-made pastries, muffins and banana bread as well as a selection of gluten-free baked goods offering options for those with dietary restrictions. Signature dishes include tomahawk steak and eggs, whole chicken and waffles, a ricotta pancake and meat-free options like a Beyond Sausage sandwich which will  be added to the menu in coming weeks.

The 7,000 square foot creative space that features  giant bird cages, a donut wall, oversized cereal box installations and a panda bear tunnel is having a tiered opening due to COVID-19 constraints. As of today, they’re open with the cereal, ice cream and gourmet coffee bars and are currently taking walk-ins. The new restaurant includes indoor and outdoor seating. Reservations as well as lunch and dinner are expected soon.

“Breakfast, no matter what time you’re having it, sets the tone for the entire day,” Robbie Earl tells L.A. Weekly. “ It is our hope that when you dine at The Breakfast Club, you will not only have great food and a great experience, but that you will carry that feeling throughout the rest of your day.”
