“The Best Gig I Ever Saw” is a weekly column that will see us ask a musician to chat about their favorite concert thus far. This week it’s Baba Chenelle, drummer with L.A. punk vets The Zeros, who play Alex’s Bar with The Last this week…

My all-time favorite show was in 1987 at the Roxy. It was Johnny Thunders and he was playing with Jerry Nolan, Arthur Kane and some kid (I can’t remember his name). The vibe was perfect — it was like he was playing with two old buddies. There was heckling and people throwing shit but Johnny didn’t give a fuck…. everyone was having a great time and it was a really good show.

The Zeros play with The Last, The Alley Cats and Trotsky Icepick at 2 p.m. on Sunday, August 18 at Alex’s Bar.
