“The Best Gig I Ever Saw” is a weekly column that will see us ask a musician to chat about their favorite concert thus far. This week it’s James Rota and Emily Burton of stoner metal titans Fireball Ministry…
The thing is that we as a band have been lucky to play with so many of our heroes that I would say GIGS. The top 3 that stick out are Motörhead, Dio and Alice Cooper.  It was the closest thing to following the Grateful Dead that we ever experienced. All three bands were not only amazing to watch musically, but from Lemmy, Alice and Ronnie on down, the bands and crew were such great people that it made us that much more connected to the music. Getting to open for these titans and then watch them perform night after night is like Rock Show 101 — a lesson on how to entertain and endure.
Fireball Ministry plays with Moth, Painted Wives and The Watchers at 8 p.m. on Saturday, August 24 at the Viper Room.
