Chaz KangasWho's performing tomorrow at Vitello's Italian Restaurant in Studio City? You guessed it, Frank Stallone. Along with being Sylvester Stallone's acting and singing brother, Frank is probably best remembered as a frequent punchline during Norm Macdonald's stint as Weekend Update host on Saturday Night Live.
Macdonald was inspired by the above photo, and so constantly mocked him as an excuse to keep showing it. But he chilled on the jokes once Frank's brother Sylvester hosted the show and asked him to “take it easy” on him, adding that Frank has had a tough time of things ever since his attempt to break in as a boxer coincided with Rocky, making everybody want to “beat up Rocky's brother.”
Indeed, let's not be too hard on the guy, considering Frank Stallone has had a pretty good career as a singer: He's had a number of successful albums, and won a Golden Globe and Grammy nomination for his song “Far From Over” from the Saturday Night Fever sequel Staying Alive. He's still making music, most recently recording “Don't Want to Fight With Me” for 2012's The Expendables 2.
Truth be told, we adore the guy, and what better way to show our love than with these, the top five Norm Macdonald jokes about him from Saturday Night Live. Rather than clips of Macdonald saying them, however, they're mostly accompanied by, you guessed it, Frank Stallone videos.
