According to the Mayan calendar, the I-Ching and a range of biblical and secular prophecies, the world is supposed to come to an end on Friday. It's probably not true but what if it is? You're going to feel pretty dumb if you didn't spend your last evening dancing, eating, drinking and being merry.

El Vez with DJ Jorge Dean

Los Globos, 3040 W. Sunset Blvd., 9 p.m.; $10 – $30.

L.A.'s own Mexican Elvis and erstwhile presidential candidate, El Vez has been a fixture in the SoCal music scene ever since Robert Lopez played guitar and sang vocals in the punk band The Zeroes. As El Vez, Lopez not only channels the King, he takes Elvis Presley out of the deep south and into a raucous Quinceañera, where your head feels like a piñata and the worm at the bottom of the tequila bottle suddenly becomes your best friend. El Vez rocks the house at Los Globos with DJ Jorge Dean in a festive party presented by the Pachuco Boogie Show.

The Edge of Forever

Philosophical Research Society, 910 Los Feliz Blvd., 8:30p.m.; $12

The Philosophical Research Society in Los Feliz houses its founder Manly P. Hall's enormous library of ancient and esoteric texts, which could probably tell you all you need to know about Doomsday. Designed by Robert Stacey-Judd in the Mayan Revival style of architecture, the library is both an appropriate physical and spiritual backdrop to The Edge of Forever, a one-time-only chamber operetta performance with the wild Up orchestra. Elizabeth Cline is the librettist and director, working with her boyfriend Lewis Pesacov (Fool's Gold), the composer. The project was crowd-funded entirely through Kickstarter.

HM157, 3110 N. Broadway Ave., 8 p.m.; free

An old-timey Victorian landmark in Lincoln Heights, HM157 hosts some of the best hippie-filled fêtes in the city, including craft fairs, square dances and more. Manning the mixing boards is a guy named Reid Maxwell, who's having his birthday party on what may be the last day of human existence. Even if you don't know him (we don't), there's no reason why you shouldn't make your way to Lincoln Heights to check out HM 157, if you haven't already. Just be sure to RSVP.

End of Days Armageddon Art Exhibit

We all have fetishes, and in a way, Doomsday is one of them. America's premier fetish-themed art-house, Hollywood's Antebellum Gallery hosts a titillating and terrifying tribute to the “end of days” phenomenon. In celebration of the final hours of the Mesoamerican Long Count calendar, this art exhibit promises to make you both happy and horrified to be alive.
