Teen fans mobbed the mall, the store and the skaters. Police had to shut the whole thing down.
Downey police say they were called to the Stonewood Shopping Center near Downey High School after pandemonium welcomed a 1 p.m. appearance by the two on Saturday.
Video (at the very bottom) shows Fernandez being whisked off to a waiting car as he's mobbed by teens.
Police said in a statement that about 2,000 people formed a line in a mall parking lot while several hundred others were inside the shopping center waiting for the pair. It was too much for the store, Zumies, to handle, they said.
“The clothing store and event staff were overwhelmed,” Downey police said in a statement. The crowds “caused the business to close their doors and cancel the event.”
Not just the one business closed, however. Police say mall management decided to shut the whole shopping center down, at least temporarily.
The Downey Police Department called for reinforcements from surrounding agencies, cops said, and teens and shoppers alike were given the bum's rush.
The mall was back to normal by 4:30 p.m., police said. No injuries were reported.

A video of him skating from late 2013 said he was 13 at the time, which would make him 14 or 15 now.
