Los Angeles police announced that five people, four of them female teenagers, have been arrested in connection with a string of burglaries targeting “well-known celebrities” and other well-heeled citizens of the Hollywood Hills.

Strangely, while the suspect crew seems to vaguely follow the description and working style of a trio captured on security video breaking into the home of famed Hollywood Hills resident Lindsay Lohan, police are mum on any connection between the quintet and the Lohan breach. (Investigators say they have connected Lohan's break-in to the burglary of reality star Audrina Patridge's home).

The suspects were identified as 18-year-old Las Vegas resident Rachel Lee, as well as Southern Californians Courtney Ames, 18, Alexis Neiers, 18, Diana Tamayo, 19, and Roy Lopez, Jr., 27. Los Angeles police, with the help of Las Vegas authorities, made the arrests Thursday in Los Angeles, Calabasas, Thousand Oaks, Newbury Park and Las Vegas.

The suspects were each booked on suspicion of residential burglary and held in lieu of $50,000 bail, according to Los Angeles police. “Property recovered” during simultaneous warrant searches at the suspects' homes “was among that stolen during a series of burglaries committed at the residences of well-known celebrities,” according to a Los Angeles Police Department statement. Authorities said they also found guns and a “large amount of narcotics” during the searches.

What they don't say is whether they believe the five are suspected to be associates of 18-year-old Nicholas Prugo, a Calabasas resident who was arrested in connection with burglarizing the homes of Lohan and Patridge. Police say Prugo took $43,000 worth of goods from Audrina's crib in February and took jewelry and goods worth $128,000 from Lohan's place in the 2200 block of El Contento Drive in August.

Official police descriptions of three suspects in the Lohan caper include the following:
“White male, 18 to 25 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches tall with a thin build and light-brown hair … White female, 18 to 25 years of age, between 5 feet 1 inches and 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighing 120 pounds … White female, 18 to 25 years of age, between 5 feet 2 inches and 5 feet 3 inches tall, weighing 120 pounds with shoulder-length blond hair.” Also note that Prugo and one of the five share a hometown: Calabasas. Investigators aren't saying which of the five alleged burglars is from the far-west Valley enclave.

Perhaps one of the reasons detectives aren't revealing more information is that they're still trying to get more goods on the suspects who were arrested Thursday. They're asking anyone with information about the suspects or about “the crimes” (specifically which ones, they won't say) to give them a call at 213-972-2930 or 1-877-527-3247 after-hours.
