A 15-year-old girl says she was raped on campus multiple times by three starting players for the Culver City High School football team, according to a recent lawsuit (embedded below) against the local district.

Culver City police said in a statement today that one of the three, then-18-year-old Jeremy Weaver, was convicted June 3 of one count of illegal sex acts with a minor after they investigated him for allegedly participating in three sexual assaults that the victim said took place in December of 2013.

“No charges were filed on any of the other alleged suspects,” the department stated.

Weaver was arrested Jan. 15, 2014 and released on $50,000 bail a little more than five hours later, according to sheriff's inmate records.

It was all the time he would spend behind bars.

Although he was charged with three counts of the same crime, he was convicted of one and sidestepped jail in favor of five years formal probation, a District Attorney's spokeswoman said. He was also ordered to stay away from the girl.

Police say they were notified of the then-14-year-old's rape allegations on Jan. 13, 1014:

Three of the aforementioned sexual assaults occurred on Culver City High School grounds. All of these sexual assaults, three of which involved Weaver, occurred during the month of December 2013.

The suit claims that the girl was a virgin when she was lured by the boys to hang out in the school parking lot and listen to music.

At various times the three allegedly attacked the girl while others watched and even once videotaped a rape, later showing the footage to others, the suit says.

The boys spread “malicious rumors” regarding the girl's alleged “sexual promiscuity,” the suit claims. And they harassed her in order to try to prevent her from reporting the assault, the filing alleges.

After she did report her allegations to school officials, two of the three confronted her and tried to coerce her into recanting, the suit claims.

The victim ultimately moved to Chicago and even once tried to commit suicide in the wake of her experience, the filing says.

Culver City Unified School District Superintended Dave LaRose issued a statement on the case today:

We recently became aware of a lawsuit that was filed against the Culver City Unified District regarding an incident in December, 2013.

CCUSD and our entire community believe the health, welfare and safety of our students is paramount, and we responded immediately and cooperatively to this incident with the Culver City Police Department.

While I cannot comment about specific details regarding the allegations contained in the lawsuit, our District will remain unwavering in our commitment to protect the children we serve and respond aggressively to any action that challenges this priority.
