Police were called to the scene on Victory Boulevard west of Densmore Avenue about 9:35 p.m., the department said. According to an LAPD statement:

The investigation revealed Alvarez intentionally laid himself down on the number one, west bound lane of Victory Boulevard, near Densmore Avenue. Alvarez was struck by a newer model silver 4 door sedan, possibly a Honda Accord, and was struck a second time by a late 90's model brown Honda Accord.

Paramedics rushed to the location but pronounced Alvarez dead at the scene.

The two cars “stopped momentarily,” the LAPD stated, but allegedly fled. Now detectives want to speak to the drivers.
