17-Year-old Female Struck by Car While Crossing Street near Bayside Lane

SAN DIEGO, CA (March 4, 2021) – On February 28, a 17-year-old girl was critically injured in a car accident on Mission Bay Drive.

California Highway Patrol arrived to the scene around 6:55 p.m., after receiving multiple dispatch calls in the area. According to reports, the teen girl was crossing the street when a vehicle ran a red light and struck her.

The vehicle was described as a 1998 Lexus driven by a 63-year-old man in the area of Bayside Lane.

As a result of the impact, she required transportation to the nearest hospital for further treatment. Medics say she suffered from life-threatening injuries, including a brain hemorrhage and multiple fractures.

Meanwhile, the driver of the Lexus remained at the scene and cooperated with officials. Following investigations, officers say alcohol and drugs did not play a factor in the collision. Although, an active investigation to determine further details is underway.
